Hey Surf Athletes
We are currently reviewing ways to get back into the water safely and would appreciate your feedback. You’ll find listed below, how we plan going forward.
As many of our athletes are shielding, or certainly within the vulnerable category, we must ensure the risk is as low as possible. The last bullet point below is provision of wetsuits and kit.
As the average junior kit costs around £100, and £140 for adults, we are putting together multiple funding applications to help subsidise this. However, we need an idea of the interest and this is where we need your help.
Once we gather this info, we can then proceed with the funding applications. If successful, we’ll come back to you regarding the cost less the potential subsidy. Kit will consist of a wetsuit, a hood, boots, gloves and a changing towel. NB There will be no commitment at this stage, it’s just to give us an idea on the demand for now.
Owing to any form of social distancing, we are looking at adopting the following measures in the short to medium term;
- Small group and individual sessions will take place in accordance within Scottish Government social distancing guidelines
- If a surf athlete requires 1:1 support, this support must be provided by a family member/carer assisting in the water or beach, at all times
- Our adaptive board will remain out of operation until what a time when social distancing guidelines change and allow us to use it
- Surf athletes/1:1 support members must provide their own wetsuits, boots and gloves
Interested? Please complete our questionnaire. If more than one athlete, please put multiple height and ages in boxes separated by a comma. Please be sure to list in the same order.
